Karl Weisshäupl Award

Each year the German Association of Wilton Park e.V. awards this prize for an outstanding thesis (Staatsexamens- oder Magisterarbeit) on a German-British subject.

The award commemmorates Karl Weishäupl, former Staatssekretär and long-time head of the founders of the Association, who died in 1989.

Work submitted for consideration should discuss German-British issues of the present or the recent past within the framework of political science, communication studies, history, sociology, English studies etc. Papers should single out a certain aspect of mutual concern, thus contributing to a better understanding between Germany and the United Kingdom.

Wilton Park e.V. exclusively accepts theses submitted to a German University whose authors have gained their 1. Staatsexamen or Magister Artium.

The paper must be sent to the following address by the author or the evaluator no later than one year after the completion of the examination, accompanied by a copy of the certificate, the Erstgutachten and a curriculum vitae:

The award is worth € 500.00 in cash or as a grant for the participation of a Wilton Park conference. It may be split up in two installments of € 250.00 each.

The deadline for the runnung year is the 1st of March. The submitted work will be evaluated by two reviewers according to the objectives of the award. Their verdict is beyond contestation.
